TLX’s New Super Flex Line Improves Production Capacity and Efficiency
To meet our expanding production needs and our commitment to just-in-time production, TLX’s engineering team redesigned our flex line. A flex line is a “flexible” production line that is used to produce several different products on the same line.
Our previous flex line had multiple pieces of production equipment at each workstation, but those workstations were stationary. This limited production capacity because the line could only be set up for one product at a time.
The new, redesigned super flex line has each workstation on its own rolling cart. The carts can be rearranged into any combination needed to meet each days’ production schedule. This lets us run multiple flex lines simultaneously to assemble different products in parallel, expanding our production capacity and improving efficiency.
