Integrated Supervision for Solenoid Valves

A family of supervised direct-acting solenoid valves that meet NFPA 2001: Sec. 4.3.4.1 and EN 15004-1 supervision requirements.

Customer Problem

In 2016, NFPA established a supervision requirement for gaseous fire suppression systems that requires an audible and visual alarm at the fire alarm control panel (FACP) whenever a releasing device is removed from the system’s discharge valve. This helps ensure that the device is correctly reinstalled after being removed for maintenance and testing, as only correct installation will clear the alarm. A need arose in the market to supply the necessary supervisory component.

The TLX Solution

TLX developed a family of supervised direct-acting solenoid valves that come in two sizes to match the operating pressure of any system up to 300 bar. Because the supervisory feature is integrated directly into the coil assembly, there is no need for an additional supervisory component. The coil assembly features a captured fastener to prevent misplacement when the coil is removed for testing and maintenance and also ensures full placement of the coil on the valve body, giving technicians confidence that installation is complete.
