A Valve for Off-Highway Vehicle Operator Comfort
TLX Technologies developed a continuous duty, three-way valve for the driver’s seat air suspension system.
Customer Problem
An off-highway vehicle manufacturer needed a three-way valve with an integrated check valve for the driver’s seat air suspension system. The system would isolate the operator from the shocks and vibrations caused by the rough terrain. The manufacturer needed a small, solenoid-operated valve to regulate the pressure in the seat’s air spring chamber, which included a bladder that acted like a pneumatic cushion.
The TLX Solution
TLX Technologies developed a three-way, normally closed, continuous duty solenoid vent valve. When unpowered, the valve sealed against the pressure in the seat’s air spring chamber with near-zero leakage. When powered, the solenoid valve vented pressure to atmosphere. The integrated check valve allowed the compressor to recharge the air spring when needed. This durable valve had a minimum service life of 120,000 cycles with a check valve cracking pressure range of 7 to 14 kPa.
