A Proportional Valve for a Trailer Brake System
Customer Problem
A manufacturer of brake components and systems for on- and off-highway applications needed a solution that could regulate hydraulic pressure in an EBS (electronic braking system) for trailers. The manufacturer needed a compact pressure control valve with precise linearity and low hysteresis. The manufacturer approached TLX for help after having difficulty finding a supplier that could produce a solution in the required quantities.
The TLX Solution
TLX Technologies’ engineering team leveraged their expertise in magnetic design and developed a proportional pressure control valve that met all the manufacturer’s requirements in a compact package. The final product exhibited less than two percent nominal linearity and less than five percent pressure hysteresis. Due to changes in the manufacturer’s program specifications, the valve never went into full production.
