Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer/Planner is responsible for procurement from global suppliers of materials and services to support the company’s purchasing programs.


  • Responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company’s needs for indirect materials and services, fixed assets and tooling, prototype components and production materials and services
  • Sources products and services at cost, quality, and delivery at competitive levels consistent with company policy and performance standards.
  • Accountable for timely planning and scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services with requirements
  • Initiatives and maintains purchase orders, schedules, and amendments for parts, services, and special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products; maintains close coordination with production and engineering to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
  • Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities

  • Associate degree in business administration, economics, engineering, or related field and
  • Three (3) years’ experience being responsible for purchasing and materials control and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Self-starter who works well under pressure and reacts quickly to changing priorities
  • Solid verbal and written communication
  • Strong analytical, planning and organization skills
  • Fiscally responsible mindset


  • APICS, CPIM, CSCP, or CPSM certification preferred; if not, willing to complete through company paid Educational Assistance Program
  • Manufacturing environment experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
