Pull-Type Locking Solenoid

A continuous duty solenoid that was designed as a security device for a commercial furniture systems manufacturer.

The pull-type locking solenoid was originally designed to actuate a locking mechanism for a computer desk. When the solenoid was energized, the armature pulled in to actuate the mechanism to the unlocked position. The armature remained in this state only as long as power was applied. When power was removed, the armature extended to actuate the mechanism to the locked position. Because the locking mechanism applied off-axis force to the armature, the solenoid was capable of handling high side loads.
